In the small town of Opa-Locka, just north of Miami, Florida, machines that delivered the immortal sounds of Bob Marley, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, and local heroes 2 Live Crew are presently springing back to life. The former center of vinyl record manufacturing for world-renowned reggae label Studio One is operational once more, and participating in the explosive resurgence of vinyl records.
The manufacturing team includes engineers with over 40 years experience pressing vinyl records, and ensures that the machinery is performing at top form under the most demanding quality control. The venerable Headley Haslam, who pressed almost every record during the Gibbs and Studio One years, is now back at the pressing post he first filled in the 1970s.
